FAQ

Designed for asset owners, managers, operators, insurers, and government agencies responsible for the maintenance, safety and development of high-risk, high-value, complex, or regulated assets.

Services and Capabilities

  • DeepSkyIQ provides independent multi-sensor inspection and asset intelligence using drones, ROVs, 360 capture, and ground based methods.

We deliver inspection evidence packs, defect documentation, and measurable digital twin datasets (3D models and point clouds) to support maintenance, engineering, insurance, and project decisions without scaffolding, shutdowns, or repeated site visits. Outputs can include annotated imagery, defect registers, orthomosaics, 3D mesh and point cloud, and QA notes aligned to your requirements.

Send the asset location and required outputs and we will scope a fixed deliverables quote.

  • Yes. We support both one off inspections and ongoing inspection programs.

For one off work, we deliver a defined inspection pack for reporting and decision making. For programs, we standardise repeatable capture methods, asset IDs, and deliverable templates so results are comparable over time for trend monitoring, progress validation, and maintenance planning.

If you want a program, tell us the asset list, preferred frequency, and critical defects to track.

  • Yes. DeepSkyIQ operates across aerial, interior, confined space, ground level, and underwater environments using the safest method for the asset and access constraints.

That includes drones for external structures, 360 walkthrough capture for interiors, confined space inspection where conditions permit, and ROV based inspection for submerged or partially submerged assets. Where approvals or safety constraints apply, we confirm feasibility and compliance before mobilisation.

Send the address or coordinates and a few photos, and we will confirm the safest and most cost effective method. It’s unusual for a single critical asset to not require multiple methods of data capture such as a bridge with footings being submerged is where we add the most value.

  • Yes, depending on access and safety constraints. Confined space work requires clear entry conditions, site rules, and an agreed method statement butt in general as long as the space is over 50cm x 50 cm we can provide quality data acquisition services.

Where an aerial drone is not appropriate, we may recommend alternative capture methods such as 360 camera walkthrough capture, indoor or confined space drones or an ROV where underwater inspections or digital twins and defect tracking is involved.

Compliance, Safety, and Assurance

  • Yes. We operate commercially under the appropriate CASA ReOC approvals and follow compliant operating procedures. Holding additional endorsements for up type specific drones >150kg, Over or near people, sheltered operations, extended visual line of sight class I and II plus enclosed beyond visual line of sight and night operations.

Before each job we confirm airspace constraints, site risks, and required controls, then document the method and any permissions needed. Where a site has additional rules, we align to them before mobilisation.

Send the address or coordinates and we will confirm feasibility and compliance requirements.

  • We can operate within ISO aligned client frameworks and comply with principal contractor management systems.

If your project requires ISO specific documentation, approvals, or reporting structures, we will align deliverables and site processes to your requirements. Where certification is mandatory for procurement, we will confirm what is required and whether it can be met within scope.

If ISO compliance is a procurement gate, tell us the standard and documentation requirements during scoping.

    We currently hold ISO 9001, 14001, 45001

  • We plan work to minimise exposure, reduce access requirements, and integrate with your live site controls.

We align to your SWMS, inductions, access windows, and interface requirements such as traffic management, rail corridors, ports, or active construction zones. If live operations create unacceptable risk, we propose alternative methods or modified staging.

Share your site rules and constraints and we will propose a safe, compliant method.

We also have our own ISO 45001, and Risk Assessments that are completed for every project and location.

  • Yes, subject to site permissions and operating constraints.

We regularly work in environments with strict access, security, or safety requirements and will confirm what approvals, escorts, inductions, and documentation are needed before scheduling fieldwork. If the environment requires special handling of data or imagery, we will define that up front.

Tell us the environment type and any known restrictions and we will confirm feasibility.

  • Accuracy depends on the scope and requirements, the operating environment, and control methods. For mapping and digital twin work, we use RTK, NRTIPS Cors networks, Aeropoint2 Ground Control Points and checkpoints, validated with our Emlid RS3 tilt-compensating survey pole to produce survey-aligned and engineering-grade outputs when required. If your use case is defect documentation rather than engineering measurement, we’ll work with you to specify what is reliably measurable versus what should be treated as visual evidence, to ensure we're not over scoping and, in turn, reducing your cost to what your needs require.

As an example we can provide 2-3mm detail with an X,Y,Z RMSE of <08cm although the set up time and controls take longer say than a digital twin not anchored.

  • Yes. We maintain insurance appropriate for commercial operations.

If your procurement process requires certificate of currency, contract clauses, or specific cover levels, we can provide documentation as part of scoping.

If you have insurance minimums, send them and we will confirm alignment.

Process, Timeline, and Requirements

  • At minimum: address or coordinates, asset type and quantity, required deliverables, any deadlines, and site constraints (access only in working hours, inductions, traffic interfaces).

If you have existing drawings, photos, asset lists, or an inspection standards, we can align to it.

  • send address + outputs + deadline.

  • A capability briefing is a short working session to confirm scope, constraints, and the output format your stakeholders will accept.

We review the asset type, required decisions, site rules, and any engineering or reporting standards, then recommend the safest capture method and deliverables. You receive a clear scope summary and a quoteable deliverables statement.

If you want a capability briefing, send the address and a short description of what you need to decide.

  • That depends on the deliverable you need, anything from a few hours to a weeks if you require crack mapping a 100km highway for instance. Most engagements have three phases: planning, capture, and processing and QA.

Capture time depends on access constraints and asset count, while processing time depends on whether you require 3D modelling and the format of deliverables. We provide a committed schedule once the scope and constraints are confirmed.

If you have a deadline, tell us the date, and we will confirm what is achievable without compromising quality.

  • For many inspections, initial outputs can be delivered quickly, within 48 hours, with final deliverables following once processing and QA is complete. Digital twin and mapping deliverables take longer due to processing, QA, and data packaging. urnaround depends on deliverables.

Inspection evidence packs can often be delivered quickly, while digital twins and model based outputs take longer due to processing and QA.

We will provide a committed turnaround timeframe in writing once we confirm scope, access constraints, and the required output format.

If turnaround is critical, tell us the deadline and which deliverables are non negotiable.

  • Usually not, which is part of the value.

Many inspections can be completed with minimal or no disruption because we replace access equipment with remote capture. No EMPs, No ropes or scaffolding required.

Where live environments create unacceptable risk we coordinate within your traffic and safety framework.

We hold advanced CASA endorsements to operate in enclosed spaces, over or near people, sheltered operations and extended visual line of sight which accelerates our workflows and reduces cost and disruption to you as the client.

Commercials and Procurement

  • Pricing is structured around scope, deliverables, access constraints, and risk.

We typically quote fixed scope deliverables with clear inclusions and exclusions. Where conditions are uncertain, we define assumptions and options so you can choose the right level of certainty.

If you want a fixed price, send the asset list, location, and required outputs.

  • Yes. We can work within procurement frameworks, onboarding processes, and panel requirements.

We provide the documentation procurement teams usually need, including capability summaries, insurance, compliance statements, and defined deliverable scopes.

If you have a vendor onboarding pack, send it and we will respond against it.

  • Yes. We can provide technical methodology, deliverable specifications, programmes, and compliance statements suitable for tender submissions.

Where your tender requires defensible assumptions and clear exclusions, we structure our scope to reduce delivery risk and avoid ambiguity.

Send the relevant tender extract and we will provide a quoteable deliverables statement.

  • Yes, we can support work beyond your local area, subject to scheduling, access, and site requirements.

For multi site or regional portfolios, we standardise capture methods and deliverables so outputs remain consistent across locations.

If you have a national portfolio, send the location list and we will propose a staged rollout.

  • Price is driven by complexity, site constraints, deliverable type (evidence pack vs digital twin), resolution requirements, number of assets, controlled airspace, traffic management interface, time required for flights, setup and processing and reporting depths.

If you tell us the asset type, location, and what you want to use the information for, we can then quote with clear inclusions and exclusions to minimise cost and get you what you need..

  • Yes, where scope is defined. We provide options and assumptions where uncertainty exists.

Data, Intelligence, and Outputs

  • You receive a defined deliverables pack aligned to your agreed scope.

Typical outputs include high resolution inspection imagery, annotated defect photos, orthomosaics, video, 3D mesh and point cloud where required, thermal evidence where appropriate, and a QA summary documenting capture settings, site constraints, and any limitations. If needed, deliverables can be aligned to your coordinate system and naming conventions for asset management.

If you send the asset location and the decision the data must support, we will recommend the right deliverables and quote fixed scope.

  • Either. We can deliver a structured defect register or supply clean evidence and raw data for your team to analyse.

A defect pack typically includes annotated imagery, defect IDs, location references, priority notes where agreed, and a summary of observed conditions. If you already have inspection software or engineering reviewers, we can deliver the dataset in a way that reduces your internal handling time.

Tell us whether you want evidence only, a defect register, or a decision ready report and we will scope accordingly.

  • Yes. We can provide inspection evidence, raw datasets, and digital twin outputs depending on your needs.

Digital twin deliverables may include a 3D mesh, point cloud, orthomosaic, and measurable outputs. For clients with their own engineers or platforms, we can supply clean raw data and structured evidence packs without additional interpretation.

If you tell us what decisions you need to make with the data, we will recommend the most cost effective output level.

  • YYes. We can align capture and outputs to your survey control, asset IDs, naming conventions, and file formats.

If you operate in a defined coordinate reference system or require survey aligned outputs, we confirm the control method and QA requirements up front. We can also package deliverables for common engineering review workflows and handover processes.

Send your standard, template, or example deliverable pack and we will align to it.

    ESRI, BIM/CAD, Procure is standard.

  • Yes, when the scope is defined for evidentiary or decision grade outputs.

We capture with repeatable methods, maintain traceable file structures, and provide QA notes that document what was captured, when, and under what conditions. Suitability depends on your required standard and whether you need measurement grade outputs or condition evidence only. If your matter is high stakes, we will align deliverables to your acceptance criteria before mobilisation.

Tell us the intended use case and required format and we will confirm what is defensible for that purpose.

  • You own the deliverables produced for your project, subject to the agreed commercial terms.

We retain internal working files and templates used to produce the outputs, and we maintain secure storage and backup practices for the project lifecycle. If you require specific retention periods, access controls, hosting, or handover formats, we can define that in the scope.

If data governance matters for your organisation, request a data handling summary during scoping.

Decision and Fit

  • We support asset owners, principal contractors, engineering teams, strata and facilities managers, insurers, and government agencies.

Most clients engage us when they need defensible condition evidence, repeatable capture for monitoring, or digital twin datasets that reduce access, disruption, and rework.

If you tell us your asset type and objective, we will confirm the best workflow.

  • We focus on defensible asset intelligence, not “nice footage.” That means defined data capture methods, data QA, defect detection software and visualisation, repeatability, and deliverables that plug into engineering, maintenance, and risk workflows. If you need certainty and auditability, you want an operator that works like a technical services partner, not a hobbyist.

  • In a range of scenarios thermal inspections will enhance the information you have to make informed decisions and mitigate risk to people, property and other assets, such as:

Electrical Maintenance: Identifies overloaded circuits, loose connections, and overheating components to prevent fire hazards in residential and commercial buildings.

Building Inspections & Energy Audits: Detects missing insulation, air leaks around windows/doors, and moisture behind walls.

Roofing & Water Leaks: Identifies hidden water intrusion in roofing systems, balconies, and plumbing, which helps prevent structural damage and mold growth.

Mechanical & Industrial: Monitors bearings, conveyor belts, motors, and electrical switchboards for overheating to prevent failures.

Pest & Structural Investigation: Locates termite infestations, mudding, and structural issues.

Drone Inspections: Aerial mapping for solar panel efficiency, solar cell failures, crop health, and environmental monitoring description

  • Yes, where the scope requires professional grade evidence and clear deliverables.

We can support residential and low risk work, our strength is structured inspection and asset intelligence workflows rather than promotional footage. If you only need basic imagery, we will tell you if a simpler service is a better fit.

Send a short scope and we will confirm suitability and price level quickly.

  • Yes, with the right planning and approvals. Controlled airspace work requires more planning, airspace chart checks, and an agreed operating method.

If you send the address or coordinates, we confirm airspace constraints and propose a compliant plan before any commitment.

Noting that we can fly generally in most places only requiring approvals for direct flight paths in close proximity to the airport.
